Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced
Proposal Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of Bids & Proposals, the Proposal Manager will be responsible for all team management within the proposal development period from the initial kick-off to final submission, including determining the appropriate proposal milestones and associated due dates with achieving all internal and external requirements. They organize and coordinate proposal resources and ensure completion of all assignments, review of all work, and adherence to internal quality control measures to capture new business across space sector markets. This position is on-site at our Irvine, CA. and eligible for relocation costs.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage all phases of proposal activities for new and existing customers, including the pursuit kick-off, creation and monitoring of the proposal plan, schedule, internal communications, reviews and other key activities
- Coordinate and review/edit proposal input from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, operations, legal, and engineering to gather requirements and develop content
- Build and develop the capacity of internal staff in conceptualizing and writing winning proposal content
- Effectively review customer requirements (i.e., RFI/RFP) to effectively plan and develop the proposal
- Deliver compliant, professionally produced proposals within customer-defined timeframes
- Review proposals for compliance with company policies and industry standards
- Coordinate with Business Development & Capture Management personnel, practice leaders, and marketing team to gather required proposal content, including related research projects, and review comments
- Direct and generate writing/editing/rewriting efforts as needed for each pursuit
- Generate proposal work-products that address customer requirements and communicate solution designs and specifications in a concise yet thorough manner
- Execute and support gate reviews, color reviews, and solutions development activities
- Ensure that win themes/value solutions, technical scope, staff qualifications and experience, biographical data, and other marketing materials are accurate, timely, and well written
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Marketing or Business Administration
- 4+ years of relevant experience in business development, proposal management, capture management, engineering, or program management
- 4+ years of relevant experience in aerospace, defense, space or similar industries
- Experience as book boss, proposal manager, and/or capture manager
- Ability to work independently and with a high degree of detail in identifying, coordinating and generating key inputs for proposals and pursuit activities.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-starter, excellent problem solver, have excellent communication skills and balance multiple activities.
- Comfortable and experienced in working with multiple levels of a collaborative team
Additional Differentiators
- Basic understanding of satellites, space sensors, and/or ground systems used for space assets
- Experience working in a distributed, matrixed environment, able to influence senior leaders and engage employees that are not in a direct reporting structure
- Practical experience with the various contracting tools and associated regulations employed by DoD to acquire non-traditional solutions which feature emerging commercial technologies
- Strong understanding of the Aerospace Industry and IC/DOD acquisitions with a working knowledge of contract types and FAR/DFARS
- Must be a good delegator and multi-tasker experienced in managing multi-disciplined teams
- PMP or similar project management certification
- Experience with Shipley processes

Salary Range $120,000-$160,000
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
