Astro Digital designs, builds, and operates a diverse range of small satellite systems supporting space-based turnkey missions for several business applications, including earth observation, communications, in-orbit demonstrations, risk reduction, science, and exploration. Astro Digital is headquartered in Santa Clara, California with infrastructure around the globe.
Primary Duties:
- This is a newly opened position; primarily reliability engineering with electronics.
- Participate in the design and manufacturing of a next-gen aerospace engineering effort.
- Flight Computer data bus design and routing, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, UART.
- Power converters and power switching networks.
- PCB Schematic capture and layout with Altium
- Work with electrical and mechanical engineering teams and external suppliers to obtain relevant external wiring data.
- Create and maintain harness specifications to include pinouts, wire gauge, and appropriate shielding.
- Power Systems electronics checkout.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s of Science in the areas of Electrical, Aerospace, or other related fields OR 2+ year’s experience in avionics or similar military MOS.
- Deep understanding of electrical systems
- Experience in harness design and/or manufacturing (aerospace, automotive, or military)
- Ability to interface with customers to receive relevant data
- Experience managing vendors and fast-paced schedules
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Highest level of attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer
- Experienced in digital, analog, and mixed signal circuit design
- Used communication buses such as I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet
- Experience with circuit simulation software such as LTSpice
- Ability to identify, design, and see through manufacture of last minute harnesses
- Ability to work outside of formal job description with mechanical assembly as needed
- Eagerness to grow with a consistently innovative engineering team
