Intuitive Machines is seeking a Radio Navigation Engineer to join our team! Intuitive Machines provides lunar surface access, lunar orbit delivery, and communications equipment at lunar distances.
This position will support design and development of a precision Positioning Navigation and Timing (PNT) system to support future vehicle operations at the Moon.
The candidate will work in a cross-functional team on the design, development, manufacture, test, and on-orbit operation of flight and ground support hardware for the Intuitive Machines lunar PNT system.
Responsibilities
- Real-time navigation flight software development, HWIL navigation sensor integration, performance, and testing.
- Processing of onboard satellite navigation data for precision navigation and ephemeris generation for spacecraft operating in lunar orbit
- Navigation software development and testing
- Batch and extended sequential Kalman filter design and tuning for terrestrial and on-orbit environments
- Development of orbit determination techniques for satellites operating in solar orbit in the vicinity of Earth, Moon, and Mars
A candidate for this position will be encouraged to take on as much responsibility as practical and will be expected to play a role in the entire cradle-to-grave product development process, including requirements development, sensor selection, algorithm design, software development and testing, and navigation performance verification.
Required Education/Experience/Skills
MS or Ph.D. in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience preferred
- Extensive experience with Orbit Determination techniques
- Experience with CDMA and weak signal GPS
- Experience batch and extended sequential Kalman filter design
- Experience with SWIL and HWIL testing and integration
- Experience with C, C++, and Python
- Experience with GN&C sensor testing, planning, and modelling
- Experience with supporting a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience with spacecraft dynamics and orbital mechanics
- Experience with JIRA and Agile processes
- Experience with VxWorks and/or other realtime operating systems is preferred
- Experience with Git version control preferred
Desired Education/Experience/Skills
- Prior experience with Spirent RF simulators, GMAT, real-time software, Monte Carlo analysis, C/C++, Python
