INTEGRATION SPECIALIST (DRAGON PROPULSION) – NIGHT SHIFT
SpaceX is currently seeking talented individuals for an Operations Specialist position on the Spacecraft Integration Dragon team. Specialists work closely with the SpaceX Dragon engineering department in the design and development ground support equipment and flight hardware integration process optimization. They also work on console operating and performing pressure and other testing. You will have ownership of your work in all phases. The role will also require interface with design engineers, providing the opportunity to continuously improve the Capsule design and ground processing as the team works to establish aircraft like operations on Dragon.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate as a test conductor on console for propulsion system checkouts, performing pressure and other validation testing of ground service equipment and flight hardware
- Assist in the design and fabrication of tooling and ground support equipment for the maintenance propulsion team
- Assist with integration of propulsion system components by providing floor support to technicians
- Ensure all related equipment, systems, and preventative maintenance items are performed on time, safely, and in a professional manner to ensure equipment is always in an operational state
- Create work instructions for build, checkout and setup of ground support equipment as well as creating disposition planning for off nominal operations
- Generate and own cleaning procedures/ work order release for removed fittings, tier 2 GSE and propulsion test kits
- Generate component decontamination work orders and drive release for each campaign for tier 1 and tier 2 hardware
- Optimize component decontamination, clean line operations, and propulsion system integration
- Review and triage work order feedback; work with process planning to drive necessary incorporation on in process work orders and next engineering master's revisions
- Drive process improvements and planning updates for consistently challenging/ time consuming operations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of professional experience working in a hands-on technical position
- 1+ years of professional experience working in an aviation, aerospace, automotive, chemical processing, refining, console operator, or manufacturing environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's degree or higher in aerospace, engineering, or related field
- Airframe and powerplant license (A&P)
- 1+ years of professional experience working with pressure systems, including build, operation, or testing
- 1+years of professional experience on console operating equipment through a user interface
- Solid understanding of integration processes including avionics, fluid system and structures.
- Experience with process development, facility and line layouts
- Experience with test operations procedures, hydro/pneumatic pressure control, and safe handling of flight parts
- Knowledge of different fittings such as NPT, Swagelok, A/N and medium pressure
- Ability to read, and understand operating system schematics and drawings
- Ability to troubleshoot programs and systems and determine root causes and implement fixes
- Strong computer skillset, including Microsoft Office navigation and file manipulation
- Experience with Siemens NX (UG), Teamcenter CAD, and PDM systems
- Experience using borescopes and other inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision on tight-schedules
- Ability to take project goals inputs and works towards that end-goal beyond individual task assignment
- Knowledge of vacuum systems and pumps
- Knowledge of hazardous systems, PPE requirements, high-pressure system design and handling
- Experience working with hypergolic propellants
- Experience working with component clean line operation
- ISO 8 cleanroom experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to pass Space Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Ability to work a schedule rotation for days/nights and/or dedicated night shift:
- 2nd shift: 4:00pm - 2:30am or 6pm-6am during active checkouts Sunday-Thurs or Tuesday-Saturday
- Comfortable being trained to work around hypergolic propellants (MMH and NTO) and willing to work with hazardous materials
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
- Ability to work at elevated heights (up to 300 feet), including the use of ladders
- Willing to operate heavy machinery
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain, ice
- Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Integration Specialist/Level 1: $30.00 - $38.00/hour
Integration Specialist/Level 2: $34.00 - $43.00/hour
Integration Specialist/Level 3: $38.00 - $48.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
