Maxar is seeking a talented and experienced Contracts Director to join our Contracts Management team supporting the most exciting projects in the aerospace industry. We are a flexible and fast paced organization that contracts with commercial clients and the US Government as both a prime and subcontractor. The Contracts Director will perform the following:
Lead a team of contract professionals performing across the Space Infrastructure line of business.
Serve as principal advisor on contract-related matters to the Space Infrastructure legal and executive management teams.
Develop and maintain firsthand, expert knowledge and understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) Supplement, NASA Supplements and other U.S. and international acquisition regulations affecting the Company’s interests.
Supervise, direct, and manage all Contracts Administration-related activities through all phases of the procurement lifecycle, including supporting pricing and proposals, negotiations, maintenance, and closeouts.
Responsible for review of proposals for compliance with Government regulations and company best practices. May provide direct input to proposal cost and contract volumes as part of a proposal and capture team.
Oversee the negotiation of third-party agreements and coordinate with senior management or Legal staff to achieve favorable terms and conditions in accordance with company policy.
Monitor contractual performance across a large portfolio of contracts to mitigate performance, cost and schedule risks.
Work closely and develop good working relationships with external and internal stakeholders by establishing routine, professional communications, both verbally and in writing.
Review contract terms and conditions and provide advice to contracts staff, program managers and leadership regarding intellectual property data rights, deliverable obligations, and strategies to reduce performance risk during program execution.
Support and lead process improvement initiatives and represent the Contracts team at cross functional working groups.
The Contracts Director will be expected to be professional; the ability to think independently to resolve problems using proactive concepts; and apply a general business acumen as it applies to contract management and business administration.
Minimum Requirements:
US citizenship with the ability to obtain TS/SCI level security clearance.
Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Business Administration, Business Law, or related field. Additional year’s relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
Minimum of 15 years of experience with the review, preparation, negotiation and the monitoring of federally funded contracts with in the defense and civilian aerospace community.
Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR), Truthful Negotiations, and Cost Accounting Standards.
Ability to work with Maxar teams located in the Pacific Time Zone and Mountain Time Zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s or law degree.
Demonstrated experience in the commercial and Government aerospace industry.
Experience in or familiarity with ITAR and export licensing laws and regulations.
Superior problem-solving skills.
Must have excellent analytical skills, effective written and oral communication skills, effective negotiation skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Must be able to identify and resolve complex contracts issues and advise program staff and management of contractual rights and obligations.
Demonstrated ability to identify issues and problems on assigned contracts and make independent recommendations to direct supervisor(s), program staff, and business unit management.
Ability to work independently and make independent decisions, ensuring high levels of collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
