Atomos Space is developing and operating orbital transfer vehicle (OTVs) to perform orbit raising, precision insertion, phasing, and plane change services for satellites. We’re not only striving to enable more commercial companies to operate in space dynamically and sustainably: we’re realizing rugged electric propulsion with space nuclear systems. Atomos is funded by private investors and on-going government contracts.
This is a multi-faceted operations role suited to an early-career candidate seeking diverse responsibilities and start-up experience. As part of a small, passionate startup, you will be responsible for supporting the organization’s legal, regulatory, and policy operations. This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism. This position reports to the COO and is a non-attorney role.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review common contracts, e.g., lease agreements, MOUs, subcontractor and vendor agreements, NDAs, Purchase Orders, software licenses, engagement letters, etc., and maintain the company’s forms and guideline documents.
- Manage and maintain the company’s contract and NDA databases.
- Manage insurance coverage and claims, corresponding with insurance carriers and brokers as needed.
- Provide administrative support and assist with special projects, as assigned.
- Review, interpret and provide advice regarding contract and agreement types.
- Support external corporate counsel in drafting of contracts and agreements.
- Support external Atomos counsel department with broad array of compliance matters, including applying for, organizing and renewing regulatory permits and licenses in the US and internationally, including spacecraft licenses (FAA, FCC, NOAA), nuclear licenses (DOE, NRC), and export compliance.
- Correspond with regulatory agencies, lobbyists, outside legal counsel, and internal stakeholders regarding various compliance matters.
- Support regulatory and policy affairs strategy with external partners such as CONFERS and CSF.
- Monitor and respond to requests for information from third parties and regulators.
- Monitor USPTO and other filings in coordination with external counsel.
- Develop working knowledge of internal databases and systems in order to pull and extract insights from data in making business decisions.
- Oversee compliance audits and coordinate related activities across organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Interest in space and nuclear regulatory landscape.

Desired Experience
- Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science in technical or administrative degree, or Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school (note; this is a non-attorney position).
- Experience with government contract administration and compliance (FAR, DFAR, OTA, SBIR).
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
