Your Mission at Virgin Galactic
Become a part of the Fly-by-Wire team within the Flight Controls Department. We focus on defining the verification test process and leading the verification of the flight control system. Additionally, you will validate requirements, perform system characterization testing, and trouble shoot system issues. The responsibilities span the entire lifecycle, from conceptual design to flight tests and commercial operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of verification experience in the aerospace industry.
- Test the Fly-by-Wire Flight Control Systems to ensure it meets the system requirements.
- Develop test cases, procedures, and reports.
- Troubleshoot system issues found in flight or lab tests.
- Lead process improvement to streamline testing and post-processing.
- Review requirements to ensure they are verifiable.
- Lead vehicle level test and Built-in-Test (BIT) plans.
- Review supplier test plans and reports.
- Provide inputs on the flight tests.
Required Skills
- B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- 3 or more years of aerospace verification test or integration experience.
Preferred Skills And Experience
- Hands-on experience testing/troubleshooting electronics, electromechanical systems, and software.
- Experience with Fly-by-Wire systems including fault-tolerant architectures.
- Knowledge of aircraft flight control system operations, flight test, or pilot experience preferred.
- Understanding systems engineering and design assurance processes for safety critical systems such as ARP-4754, DO-178, and/or DO-254.
- Data analysis using MATLAB.
- Python programming.
- LabVIEW programing.
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $85,900.00–$131,050.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
