Propulsion Components Test Technician, 2nd Shift
Position Summary
Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a
Propulsion Components Test Technician, 2nd Shift. If you join us in this position, you'll join a small team to assist in preparing for and operating development, acceptance, and qualification tests for the valves, regulators, actuators, and other widgets for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role will be reporting to the Propulsion Components Supervisor, and is a hands-on position with great attention to detail and diligence.

full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful
Long Beach, California.
Your Part of the Mission
- Execute test plans independently or with support from fellow test technicians, test engineers or technicians from other departments.
- Build and troubleshoot test setups and test fixtures.
- Provide clear, complete, and detailed information to test team at the end of shift (pass downs).
- Maintain test facilities, keeping the workplace clean, orderly and a safe work environment.
- Run and maintain a Thermatron.
- Run and maintain test panels and containment carts up to 10,000 psi.
- Run and maintain DAQ systems; program and record test data using data acquisition systems (flowmeters, pressure transducers, temperature sensors).
- Support vibe testing.
- Run and maintain cryogenic testing and test equipment.
- Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place.
- Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of aerospace technician experience.
- Experience in building and troubleshooting test setups and test fixtures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in assembling AN/JIC flare fittings.
- Experience in stainless tube assemblies (manifolds).
- Experience in assembling Swagelok tube fittings.
- Experience in assembling and disassembling according to P&ID.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including outlook (must be able to communicate clearly and professionally using emails and maintain work schedule through calendar).
- Experience in setting up and running data acquisition systems (DAQ) programming and recording test data with GSE including: pressure transducers, flowmeters, thermocouples (temperature sensors), and oscilloscopes.
- Experience with vibe testing, thermal testing, leak testing, and pressure testing.
- Experience following and executing test plans safely.
- Literacy in fluid schematics/P&IDs.
- Fabrication and assembly skills for tubing, fittings (e.g. flare, compression), and fixtures.
- Understanding of the functions and safe operation of valves, regulators, actuators, and seals.
- Hazardous fluid testing experience (e.g. high pressure, cryogenic, vibration, shock).
- Operation of benchtop test stands (e.g. leak check carts, water flow, thermal chambers).
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive as a ‘one person team’.

Additional Qualifications

- Must be willing to work varying shifts and additional hours to support critical launch activities.
- Willingness to travel (~25% of time).
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted.
What You'll Need: Salary Range
$24.50 - $34.00
