Your Mission

Account Payable Manager - contractor. If you join us in this position, you will assist in for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Your part of the Mission
- Hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating accounts payable staff members.
- Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintaining accurate and complete financial, employee, and client records.
- Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial information to management and government agencies.
- Setting and facilitating the achievement of department objectives.
- Developing, implementing, improving, and enforcing budgets, policies, and department controls to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Building and maintaining relationships with employees, clients, vendors, and lenders.
- Timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices; 2 and 3 way matches
- Ensure proper coding of invoices prior to entry into the accounting system
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Meet all month end deadlines for reporting and accruals
- Maintain vendor files and tax information to ensure that we follow IRS guidelines for year-end 1099’s
- Effectively interact with and respond to vendor inquiries
- Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place

What You Bring
What you’ll need:
If you want to join us, you’d better have all of these…
- Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or Finance Preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of accounting and management principles and accounts payable procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computers, especially business solutions and bookkeeping software.
- Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze information and processes.
- Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation.
- 10+ Years in Accounting Experience
- Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel
- Solid analytical skills, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and confident in dealing with people at all organizational levels
- Deliver a high volume of transaction work with accuracy and timeliness
- Oracle R12 or similar ERP system experience
- Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
- Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
- Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
- Generally high level of all-around awesomeness
- Must be able to manage work efficiently in a fast-pasted environment, research financial data, troubleshoot and follow through on projects to completion
