HARDWARE TEST TECHNICIAN (STARLINK)
SpaceX is seeking exceptional technical talent to simulate the rigors of long duration operation in the vacuum of near-Earth space, rocket launch, and the toughest terrestrial environments. You will help provide mobile and broadband connectivity to underserved people and regions across the world. In the process you will literally leave your fingerprints on cutting-edge propulsion, radio, laser, solar, and battery hardware and the production machine that builds it.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build high-quality wire harnesses, PCBAs, test racks, robotics, and environmental simulation equipment
- Support production and qualification by troubleshooting hardware and software, updating documentation, training line technicians, and performing scheduled maintenance
- Manage workload in order to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and respond to critical requests
- Work from a variety of sources ranging from controlled documentation to informal sketches
- Identify design and process errors, then work with colleagues to apply skill and judgment to resolve them and prevent recurrence
- Maintain safe, clean, stocked, and orderly work area
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ year experience in electromechanical assembly
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree or 3+ years of experience in related field
- Hands-on experience fabricating and debugging harnesses, electro-mechanical assemblies, printed circuit board assemblies, and test stations
- Ability to use written and oral communication skills to continually improve designs, processes, working environment, and team morale
- Excellent attention to detail and insistence on verifying work
- Basic knowledge of electronics theory and principles
- NASA STD 8739.4, IPC-620, and J-STD-001 qualifications
- Electromechanical build processes including iron & hot-air soldering; wire crimping and stripping; machine and hand drilling, shaping, cutting, and joining; 3D printing
- Electrical debug tools including multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer
- Experience working in a variety of software environments, applications, and languages including Linux, Windows, Microsoft Office, git, SVN, JIRA, Altium, Mentor PCB, NX, Bash, and Python.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Hardware Test Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $29.00/hour
Hardware Test Technician/Level 2: $27.00 - $34.50/hour
Hardware Test Technician/Level 3: $32.00 - $40.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
