What You’ll Do:
As a Capture Director (Innovation), you will lead a diverse, high-performing Capture Team across Government Sales and Execution, Product and Program Managers, Finance, Software Engineers, Astrodynamicists, and Data Scientists to bring the best solutions to the market. You work cross-functionally to manage sales opportunity strategy, schedule, and delivery, ensuring we meet customer expectations and deadlines. Your primary focus will be on identification, qualification, and the successful capture of Small Business Innovative Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) opportunities. Our SBIR program will move and fund our technology from idea stage to commercial readiness and will influence our product roadmap and strategic partnerships. You will have accountability for winning executable business and will submit a minimum of $25M in proposals each calendar year.
Position Responsibilities:
- Execute all position responsibilities in alignment with Slingshot’s core values, mission, and purpose
- Regularly communicate clear goals and expectations for team members; promote a culture of feedback
- Lead opportunities through strategy, capture, proposal writing, winning, and transition to contract execution
- Facilitate strategy development (e.g. Hold Strategy Workshops, Black Hats, Perform Price to Win, Teaming/Partnerships and Blue Teams)
- Manage expectations of stakeholders and keep the Business Leadership Team informed and engaged, including timely escalation of issues needing resolution
- Deliver proposals to the government leveraging the Shipley Business Winning methodology or something similar
- Understand value drivers in recurring revenue business models and channels to market
- Promote a strong sense of urgency for reaching goals and key deliverables
- Contribute fully to the team effort and play an integral part in the smooth running of teams without necessarily taking the lead
- Perform other duties as assigned (to be less than 10% of the responsibilities listed above)
Pre-Requisites
- This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain security clearances
Minimum Requirements
- 7+ years of sales experience with a proven track record and demonstrated success in selling SaaS, software, and/or spec work to large enterprises and global companies and government agencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
- Track record of success in leading and winning DoD contracts >$25M
- Experience working on Small Business Innovative Research and other R&D type contracts
- Experience leading opportunity captures
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- 10% Travel Required
Preferred Skills
- APMP Certification or equivalent capture certification
- Active Secret Clearance
- Professional work experience in space industry
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex issues clearly
- Experience with core sales tools: Hubspot/Salesforce, LinkedIn, Google Apps, Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with DARPA and/or IARPA
