The NASA Office of Procurement seeks Contract Specialists to perform procurement planning, negotiation, and contract administration in support of NASA programs. The Office of Procurement is structured to provide support to our mission partners regardless of location. This announcement may fill positions at all NASA facilities and for the IT Procurement Office. The IT office is located in Greenbelt, MD, but supports IT acquisition activity with employees located at multiple NASA Centers.
In addition to the Basic Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level Supporting award actions to procure and/or administer various contract types (e.g., supplies and services); and Supporting the negotiation prices, contract terms and conditions, contract modifications, and providing support to senior contract specialist in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR). Federal Acquisition Certification-Contracting (FAC-C) Level II or Department of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification Level II certification is preferred, but not required.

The ideal candidate has experience recommending, developing, and implementing policies and procedures to procure supplies, services, for construction or research and development projects using formal advertising or negotiation procedures to evaluate contract price proposals and policies.
