We are looking for a STEM Didactics Coordinator to join the Training & Operations Team and bring their expertise to support the ESA Education programme.

Space Applications Services is a company based in the Brussels area (BE) that provides products and services for the space sector in many areas from Avionics, Robotics, Human Exploration, Science and Earth Observation.
The ESA Education Office aims to use space as a theme to enhance the literacy of young people in science and technology, and to motivate young Europeans to pursue a space-related career. The office personnel is based partially at the ESA-ESTEC Centre in The Netherlands, and partially at the ESA-ESEC Centre in Belgium.
As part of the programme directed towards primary and secondary school teachers, the E-Technology Lab at ESA-ESEC is a didactic laboratory that offers direct hands-on experience of space robotics and space science. In support to the ESA Education programme, the successful candidate will join the team responsible for providing didactic support to the ESA STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Programme design, production, and testing of teacher training modules.
Within Space Applications Services the position is in the Services Department, Training & Operations Team. The candidate will mainly report to an on-site Line Manager and to the Space Applications Services Training & Operations Team Lead.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Resources development and updates on school-level curricular & extra-curricular technology and science subjects (e.g. coding, robotics, rocketry, satellite design, telecommunications, science investigation)
- Identification, testing, adaptation and use of supporting tools for the technology training modules and classroom resources (e.g. software/applications, online and/or off-line, and/or hardware such as LEGO Education/Mindstorms/We Do, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and others)
- Implementation of educational programmes for teachers and teachers' community management
- Support to the routine operations of the ESA STEM unit (calendar, procurements, infrastructure and logistics, reporting, KPI evaluation)
- Collaboration with the ESERO network and participation/support to ESERO working groups
- Outreach and promotion activities.
Skills and Experience
- A Master degree in Aerospace Engineering, Space Systems Engineering or equivalent
- At least 4 years of professional experience
- Proven experience in Project Management with the ability to effectively:
- Coordinate work contributions from several different parties
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders (ESA, the involved international partners, industry, academia and students)
- CubeSat (or SmallSat) engineering experience will be considered an asset
- A proactive approach, with initiative and ability to work independently
- Ability to synthesise, summarise and draw conclusions
- Ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
- Ability to work in distributed international teams
- Strength to cope with schedules and deadlines
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Excellent written and spoken English.
