The Associate Project Manager will be responsible for the successful management and delivery of tactical and value add projects at the Catapult. They will also be responsible for delivery alongside Senior Project Managers of specific elements of complex and transformative projects.
This role involves both the delivery of specific tasks within the larger project or can be to support the Senior PM.
The responsibilities include (but are not limited to!):
- Maintaining and monitoring project plans, project schedules, resources, budgets, and expenditures
- Manage risks/opportunities and challenges.
- Manage reporting throughout the Project Lifecycle.
- Organise, attend, and participate in stakeholder meetings.
- Accurately documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
- Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings.
- Deliver project milestones to agreed timescales.
- Manage and lead project change.
- Manage project tasks as appropriate.
- Manage stakeholder engagement.
- Support Project Governance activities.
You know you have been successful when you are:
- Producing the necessary reports as appropriate internally and to the funding body/customer.
- Building relationships with colleagues across the Catapult and within your project teams and the wider stakeholder community.
- Managing and delivering tactical projects throughout the project lifecycle with an awareness of the impacts the project will achieve.
- Reviewing and checking project data to ensure issues are identified at the earliest opportunity.
- Contributing to the development and continuous improvements of the process and systems in use.
- Maintaining engagement with project stakeholders to provide useful and timely updates.
- Recording and sharing accurate and understandable actions, notes, risks and issues.
- Successfully managing project finances: resource requests, purchase orders, invoices.
- Monitoring project plans
- Creating schedules of work
- Keeping track of project budgets and expenditures
- Organising, contributing and participating in stakeholder meetings
- Meeting challenging project deadlines
Skills and experience required:
- Ability to demonstrate successful delivery of tactical projects.
- Ability to demonstrate management of budgets, issues, actions, and risks.
- Good verbal, written and presentation skills with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to engage with all project team members and be able identify the communication styles necessary to communicate effectively.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project and SharePoint.
- Ability to deliver to project deadlines and work on multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of project management lifecycle and able to demonstrate ability to apply it in a project context.
- Able to demonstrate organisational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
