Responsibilities
- Mechanical design of flight, engineering, and support hardware
- Generate and maintain 3D CAD modelling of bespoke space sensors
- Produce engineering drawings for assembly and manufacture, and define integration procedures
- Manage BOM for manufacturing and production, and deal with manufacturing supply chain
- Support assembly, integration and test of space equipment and systems
- Define and qualify processes and tools to achieve high quality engineering solutions
- Prepare technical documentation (design specifications, test plan, etc.), and analysis and test reports
- Define and manage mechanical requirements and defend designs during project reviews with customers (ESA, UKSA, etc.)
- ‘Own’ quality documentation relevant to the role, e.g. Declared Parts & Materials Lists, ECN's, NCR's
- Support subcontractor coordination and activities
- Actively contribute to the writing of proposals for grant applications
Required Skills
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience designing mechanical parts, assemblies and sub-systems in the space environment
- Hands on experience Manufacturing, Assembly and Testing
- Keen to solve complex challenges in a small team
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to apply formal verification processes
- Experience designing to standards (preferably ECSS)
- Working to formal development procedures as part of a team
- Experience of working within formal configuration control methods
- CAD experience (preferably SolidWorks)
Additional Desired Skills
- Structural and thermal analysis
- Test specification, plan and procedure development
- Experience with environmental testing
- Knowledge of ESA ECSS standards+Q11:Q12
